Wirksworth is a small Derbyshire town, nestling in the Derbyshire Dales, with a fascinating, rich industrial heritage and history, and an equally inspiring present.

We’re in the middle of beautiful countryside, in the centre of England, with lots of outdoor activities on our doorstep, and a rich cultural life combining the local traditions of Well Dressing and Carnival in the late spring, and an annual Arts Festival in September. We have loads of things happening throughout the year, so it’s always worth a visit. Book festivals to sporting events, with lots of Derbyshire traditions thrown in for good measure.

With a whole host of community groups and events, we’re well known in the surrounding area for punching above our weight with live music, great local pubs serving real ale, and many events to suit all tastes.

Our high street has a wonderful range of independent shops, and we host a weekly market on a Tuesday, and a monthly Famers’ Market.

Brief history here.
