Wirksworth Community Response Group (WCRG)
The group has been formed by residents, together with the town & district councils, Hannage Brook Medical Centre and our churches, to offer support to all residents during these times of need due to the Coronavirus.

Every resident should also have received written notification of a name and contact details for their own street’s dedicated Community Volunteer, who can post mail, help topping up electric or gas key, get urgent supplies, help with shopping and prescriptions and provide a friendly phone call. Support in surrounding villages
The villages have set up their own groups, but WCRG in Wirksworth has all the contacts for these, so can refer callers on.
Ashleyhay, Breamfield and most of Alderwasley: Contact Martin Redman and Jonathan Hamill-Keyes through www.sycamorefarm.co.uk.
Bolehill & Steeple Grange: The Bolehill & Steeple Grange Improvement Group (BIG) has set up a separate support network supported by Wirksworth Town Council for residents who live in Bolehill, Steeple Grange (including Malthouse Close), Wirksworth Moor (including Breamfield Lane) & Longway Bank. We have a network of volunteers doing shopping, post office visits & pharmacy deliveries and are happy to walk dogs & chat on the phone. We also have a small library of books, DVDs & jigsaws for those self isolating to borrow. In the first instance residents should contact their road coordinator (name found on leaflets distributed to each house) or Jackie Batchelor either by phone 07711145647 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Wirksworth Team Ministry: St. Mary’s itself is closed, but Canon Truby told us: “We are holding Morning prayer each morning at 9am and Evening prayer at 5pm.and will be coming together for a Eucharist on Sundays at 9:30am. In order to join the meeting, people will need to have downloaded the Zoom App to their computer or smartphone, and then join the meeting by clicking on this link: https://zoom.us/j/2732241372” For those who don’t have internet access, they can still join just by using their landline at the time of the services. This is how:: Call 0208 0806591. The recorded message will ask for a host or meeting number: Key in 2732241372#. You are then asked another question. Key in #. You will be then asked to wait to be connected to the meeting. Once connected you will be able to hear and contribute.

St Mary’s is being used as a hub for the Jigsaw Foodbank. People can drop something in the box while they are out on their walk if possible. It is in the porch as the church has to be locked. It will be collected daily and the porch is locked at 5.30pm.
