Haarlem Mill is a Grade II* listed building built in 1780 by Richard Arkwright, the first significant coal powered mill during the industrial revolution. Historic literary links include George Elliot, D.H.Lawrence, Daniel Defoe, Olive Schreiner, Eleanor Marx, and Friedrich Engels.

The Mill is undergoing some extensive renovation in keeping with English Heritage Grade II* listed buildings. Skilled craftsmen are currently using traditional methods to convert the space
