Festivals & Carnivals

The annual Well Dressing & Carnival is celebrated together with Maypole Dancing and the annual Wheelbarrow Race at the end of May over the Whitsun/ Late Spring Bank Holiday. This sees many of the things you might expect from a Peak District Well Dressing but many more that you won’t!

An annual Arts’ Festival, Wirksworth Festival  in September draws artists of world wide renown, and the former industrial town has now developed into an artistic hub, aided by the newly opened Haarlem Artspace, an artistic community buzzing with creativity.
