Wirksworth has held a weekly market since being granted the Market Town Charter by Edward I in 1306.

The Market is held weekly, on Tuesdays, in the Memorial Gardens next to the Memorial Hall.

It used to be held in the part of town which is now the through-road, Harrison Drive, but this was blasted through to allow the increasing motor traffic an easier and safer way than along narrow North End.

On Tuesdays there is a range of produce available. Fresh vegetables and bread, fish, meat, plants are all available.
