The Wirksworth Community Growers are keen to encourage people to grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers because we think it is important for making us less reliant on imported and supermarket foods.

With the agreement of Wyvern Rail, we have created a community garden at the top of the slope overlooking Wirksworth Station. Besides our crops, we have a shed, a polytunnel, a clay oven and we keep bees in the far corner of the site. Anyone is welcome –  to help or just to enjoy the garden. Do come to see our fruit, vegetables, flowers and medicinal herbs.  The garden work days are on the first and third Sundays of the month from 11 till 3.

We are also involved in other projects, such as helping local schools and Waltham House with their gardens.
