LIVE AND LEARN – U3A Adult Education

When you finish full-time work, you have opportunities to do what you have always wanted to do, but have not had time for: learn a new language, go bird watching, join a singing group and many other things.

If you would like to share your knowledge and expertise or take advantage of somebody else’s skills, then the University of the Third Age (U3A) could be for you.

The U3A is a national organisation with nearly 500,000 members throughout the UK.  Each U3A group is autonomous, though subscribing to the U3A principles of self-help and acceptance of diversity.  It is open to anybody who is no longer in full-time employment and who is prepared to learn or share expertise.

U3A is not a university in the Oxbridge or Russell sense; there are no directed studies, examinations or degrees, just the opportunity to make new friends and learn something new.

More information about the organisation locally can be found here: http://u3asites.org.uk/wirksworth
