The Wirksworth Creative Writing Group meets on Wednesday evenings in the Town Hall for a two hour session, approximately forty weeks a year. The group listen to members’ work, and aim to offer positive critiquing for writers, within a supportive workshop set-up. They also do write-in-class exercises. The group includes poets, prose and novel writers, of all levels of experience. All members must bring paper copies of any work to be read out at the sessions so others can read along without straining to hear. From time to time, the group has space to welcome new members. A good creative balance within the group is essential, so places are allocated on this basis. The group also consider temporary membership for writers visiting the area in the short term. Please note that this group began as a Workers Educational Assn (WEA) group some thirty years ago, but is now run by members. If you may be interested in joining us, please begin by emailing Jane Linfoot for an informal email chat.
