Age UK Derby & Derbyshire seeks volunteers for the over 65’s befriending scheme in Derbyshire Dales and High Peak. The scheme has been running for nearly twenty years and is funded by Derbyshire County Council and Age UK.

Over the past 12 months there has been a significant increase in people waiting to use the scheme so Age UK are looking for help from male and female volunteers who live in Derbyshire Dales and High Peak areas – especially within and around the town of Matlock.

Age UK Befrienders provide social support and companionship to older people living in the community who are isolated, vulnerable, or lonely. Volunteering with Age UK will help older people meet their social need and retain their independence and choice.

Our volunteer numbers are going down all the time but by recruiting more people we would help ensure the long-term survival of the service. You could help by doing something simple as having a cup of tea and a chat, going for a walk or even just a quick chat on the phone. To find out more, read the leaflet.
