Save the Day!

On Saturday the 20th October, Wirksworth celebrates everything Harry Potter as the town puts on a day of events about the boy wizard and his world.

We are working on the events with shops and organisations in town. Currently, we can confirm a display of owls from Woodie’s Wings, craft activities in the Library, themed food, snacks and drinks in the Hope and Anchor, Mercia and Sour Cow, bush activities from Mount Cook Adventure Centre, and the involvement of the Heritage Centre, Traid Links and Two Wolves Gifts. We hope to have a Harry Potter mystery trail, as well as wand making, potion brewing and spell casting activities. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress costumes.

The day is to launch The Boy Who Lived collection of official Wizarding World gifts and toys at Marsden’s Gift Shop – a shop that could be straight out of Diagon Alley.

The resemblance of other shops to the famous wizards’ secret shopping street is striking and makes Wirksworth the perfect place to celebrate Harry Potter.
