Experience the classic combo of voice and plucked string, translated to early 16th century Italy, Spain and France, during the infancy of music printing. This is music that was clearly highly valued at the time, given that printing and paper was not cheap. Wirksworth’s own Carmel Edwards, accompanied by lutenist/luthier Din Ghani on lute and vihuelas (all made by him), perform as “Musicke in the Ayre” – a project began by Din in 2011 to explore this gorgeous repertoire with a growing team of singers based around the country and abroad. This is music that was designed to delight the mind and feed the soul, which still weaves its magic today!
Tickets £10 at the door, or from http://bit.ly/ChaFroVil. Doors open at 7.00pm, with a complimentary glass of wine on arrival and a pay bar during the interval.
